CHAPTER 19

SAM: Talaga Devon payag ka sa pakiusap ng school admin na maka-date ko ang mananalo sa Miss Sporstfest?
DEVON: Sam you’ve asked it 24 times in just one minute…
SAM: Pero kasi..hindi ako makapaniwala na…(she came near at him, touched his lips with her fingers)
DEVON: I just wanna prove to you na naiintindihan ko ang status mo and this one is a way of proving it to you.
SAM: Sigurado ka ba talaga? Ayaw ko lang na mag-away na naman tayo dahil dito.
DEVON: I trust you…
SAM: Thanks Devz…(he hugged her pero kumalas din agad dahil nakita nilang papalapit si Aaron)
AARON: Namamalikmata lang ba ako? Parang nakita ko kayong magkayakap?
SAM: Hang-over lang yan brawwhh…(tinapik nya ang balikat ni Aaron, umalis na sila ni Devon at napakamot naman sa ulo si Aaron)
AARON: I think I was just hallucinating…

(Dumating ang araw ng sportsfest. Dahil ang price ay to spend 6 hours with Sam, maraming girls ang sumali sa Miss Sportsfest. Tumaas agad ang kilay ni Yen pagkakita kung sino ang mga kalahok. Devon herself didn’t expect na sasali si Cheska. )
YEN: The Miss Sportsfest competition is useless! Bakit pa sumali sya? Palagi naman sila magkasama ni Sam! Why not give chance to the fans? Selfish talaga kahit kailan!
(Devon felt scared, iwan nya kung bakit though she trust Sam. The competition started pero nawala ang gana nyang manuod)
DEVON: Alis na tayo parang alam ko na kung sino ang mananalo. Let’s just watch some games.
YEN: Mabuti pa nga…walang kwentang contest naman yan…

(Samantalang sina Sam, Aaron at Alex naman ay nasa swimming area nanonood)
SAM: Why here?
AARON: Brawwh ano ka ba? We gonna watch sexy bodies..(pilyong wika nito)
SAM: Spare me…we better watch basketball game.
AARON: Why brawwh? Nakakita ka na ba ng sexy na katawan?
SAM: You!! (umakbay si Alex sa kanya at nagsalita)
ALEX: Dude let’s spare Sam from this…baka may magalit pa.
AARON: What?!! May hindi ba ako alam?
SAM: No…(iniba nya ang usapan) By the way, sino kaya mananalo sa Miss Sportsfest?
AARON: Tinatanong pa ba yan? Of course! Yung cousin ko…
SAM: Sumali si Cheska?!
(He was shocked ng tumango si Aaron. Nagyaya naman si Alex na manood nalang sila ng basketball pero ang utak nya ay nasa kay Cheska parin. Hindi naman sa ayaw nya kay Cheska pero ayaw lang nya na lumaki ang issue sa kanilang dalawa. Ang babae kasi ang palaging dahilan ng pag-aaway nila ni Devon. Di nya namalayan na tapos na pala ang basketball game. He was surprised to see that Devon and Yen were just across from them, di nya napansin ang mga ito sa kaiisip. He saw Yen dragging Devon towards them)
YEN: Ganda ng game! Half shot lang ang laman!
ALEX: Yeah right!
AARON: Hey brawwh kanina pa kita napapansin,nasa ibang dimension yata ang isip mo. (He looked at Devon and saw the questioning look in her face)
SAM: Don’t mind me….(Then she saw Cheska and Julia approaching towards them. When they finally came near, he saw Cheska’s smiling so happily. She then crossed her arms at him)
CHESKA: Can I claim my price now? (He looked at Devon again, and he knew she smiled fakingly)
JULIA: Cheska got the Miss Sportsfest title!
CHESKA: So, shall we go now?! (Of course his man enough para ipahiya si Cheska, he agreed with the University Admin. But before leaving his friends bumulong sya kay Devon)
SAM: Hintayin mo lang ako babalikan kita. (Umalis na sila ni Cheska pero ang isip nya ay nasa kay Devon pa rin. Narinig pa nya ang pagtanong ni Yen kay Devon)
YEN: What did he whisper?
(pero hindi nya narinig na sumagot si Devon dahil malayo-layo na sila ni Cheska. While Devon looked at Sam melting from the crowd with Cheska. She felt somebody pressed her shoulder as if giving comfort, she turned to look and saw Alex giving her a smile)
(Cheska brought Sam in the sea,two hours away from the University. He saw her touching the sand)
SAM: We spent two hours coming here, need to spend another two going back. So that means you only have two hours to be with me.
(She looked at him seriously)
CHESKA: Why are you so hard on me Sam? (He felt her pain but he doesn’t mind)
SAM: I just don’t want you to expect too much from me Cheska.
CHESKA: Bakit ba hindi mo ako magustuhan? We grow up together, you know me well and I know you well. Ano bang kulang sa akin Sam? (He saw her eyes watery)
SAM: Walang kulang Cheska…kaya lang mahirap pilitin ang puso.
CHESKA: Pero natuturuan naman ang puso diba?
SAM: Pero ayaw kong gawin yun. My heart is only for one girl and it would never happen that I would replace her.
CHESKA: So you’re trying to tell me that you have a girlfriend? Sino?! Sino ang girlfriend mo Sam?!! (He wanted to tell her the truth but he needs to protect Devon kaya he denied)
SAM: I don’t have a girlfriend..(It hurts him everytime he denies her)
CHESKA: Are you playing with me? You’ve just said that your heart is only for one girl and you would never replace her.
SAM: Yeah! But that girl is not my girlfriend…(kailangan nya talaga gumawa ng kwento para lang mapagtakpan ang relasyon nila ni Devon)
CHESKA: Kung ganoon…pwede pa rin tayo, diba you’re not committed?
SAM: Cheska?!
CHESKA: I wanted to walk here with you…
(hinila na sya ni Cheska at hindi nalang sya nagsalita.)

(It’s 10 pm at wala pa ring Sam ang dumating. Devon has been waiting in the University gate since 8 pm. Tapos na ang activities at nakaalis na yata lahat ng students, mga guards nalang ang nakikita nya. Yen went to her classmates house, she left her wallet and cellphone at Sam’s car kaya hindi sya makakauwi. And in her mind, she needs to wait for him. She believes in him kaya maghihintay sya kay Sam abutin man sya ng umaga. She was sitting at one of the bench outside the University gate. She’s hopeless and wanted to cry but control herself ng biglang may humintong sasakyan sa kanyang harapan. It wasn’t Sam’s car but to a stranger. He saw the guy got off the car and sat beside her. She didn’t feel scared instead she felt like she could talk to him)
DEVON: You know what?! I should have hated my boyfriend! He let me wait here but I couldn’t! I’m stupid! Stupidly inlove with him!
(She saw him smiled at her)
GUY: He’ll come here to fetch you, just believe him. (She saw him stood)
DEVON: Hey! Where are you going?
GUY: Home…(He smiled again)
DEVON: Wait! What’s your name?!
(Before he could answer, Sam’s car came and Devon was so happy seeing him. Sam got off the car and she ran towards him then the guy just smiled while looking at them)
